About the Author
Brad Cone is the long-time “Voice of the Timberwolves”; the stadium and arena announcer for Cedar Park football and both men’s and women’s basketball since the school’s inception in 1998. Since 2001, he has also kept the football team’s official offensive and scoring statistics. From 1999 through 2002, Brad announced home games for the women’s soccer team during their historic run that included two state tournament appearances. He began announcing Cedar Park baseball in 2001 and wrestling in 2004. Brad is the Master of Ceremonies at the Athletic Booster Club’s seasonal Sports Banquets held twice annually. Brad has announced a number of other special events as well, including the occasional softball game, the annual Powder Puff Bowl, three basketball playoff games, and even two exhibitions of basketball-playing donkeys. He also emcees pep rallies on occasion at CPHS feeders Cedar Park Middle School and Canyon Ridge Middle School. Brad dismissed an exploratory offer from a neighboring ISD to announce all that districts’ football games in order to continue serving with the school and people in his home community of Cedar Park. He has contributed many game articles for Cedar Park baseball and women’s soccer to the Hill Country News, the Austin American-Statesman, iHigh.com, and TSRN. Brad spent 1996-1997 performing on-air analysis during high school football “Game of the Week” radiocasts for Bill Martin Productions. He was a member of the broadcast team that covered the Class A state championship game from Abilene in 1997, and wrote a human interest article on the Granger team’s and fans’ experiences that evening for Texas Monthly. In college, Brad worked in the sports department of The Daily Texan covering Longhorn football.
